Bill Maki

William “Bill” Maki is a Senior Landscape Architect with Dix.Hite + Partners and brings more than 24 years of experience in urban planning, landscape architecture, and irrigation design throughout Florida. His work has focused on urban planning, landscape architecture and irrigation design systems for residential and mixed-use developments.

Since specializing in irrigation design in 2009, Bill has developed expertise in the design of master irrigation systems serving master-planned communities, active adult developments, and mixed-use neighborhoods. His experience includes irrigation planning for communities ranging from 100 residential to more than 1,600 residential units and over 100 acres of common open space, streetscapes, and recreational amenities.

Bill is a Florida Water Star Accredited Professional designation and was certified in 2023. His work frequently involves the development of alternative irrigation strategies where reclaimed water is unavailable, including the integration of irrigation wells, surface water sources, and reclaimed water infrastructure. He regularly coordinates with Florida’s Water Management Districts to support permitting efforts, including Consumptive Use Permits and amendments to existing agricultural water use authorizations.

For more than 15 years, Bill has led teams of designers in the preparation of landscape, hardscape, and irrigation construction documents for complex development projects throughout Central Florida. His ability to coordinate with planners, engineers, soil scientists, and regulatory agencies allows him to deliver practical, efficient irrigation solutions that support long-term landscape sustainability and operational maintenance goals for master-planned communities.
