our offices foster expression, creativity and collaboration.
For us, they also are a testament to the importance of Place.
All three Dix.Hite offices--in Longwood, FL, Birmingham, AL, and Atlanta, GA--are located in historic, walkable districts, reflecting our commitment to being an example in our own communities for people-focused design and a light environmental footprint.
Longwood, Fla. studio
The Longwood campus is located within a very short walk of the region’s commuter rail station, City Hall and the newly constructed Reiter Park. Our campus includes two buildings: “The Barn,” which was built in the early 1980's, and “The Bungalow” a 1920's craftsman bungalow which we restored according to National Historic District Guidelines. We have connected the buildings with a Florida-friendly, 90-percent native, drought-tolerant landscape, a low-volume irrigation system and pervious mulch parking, which combine to create an environment that fosters collaboration and creates a sense of place. With sustainable water practices in place, the bungalow is now a commercial pilot project for the Florida Water Star conservation program.
Birmingham, Al studio
The Birmingham studio is located in Five Points South, one of Birmingham's first streetcar suburbs, rich with landmark houses, churches, apartments and commercial buildings, and among the city's finest and most distinguished architectural and historical resources. Both the downtown skyline and Vulcan (the world’s largest cast-iron statue) atop Red Mountain are visible from the studio on the second floor of the historic Garber-Houghton House, an adaptive reuse of the attorney general’s home built in 1911.
atlanta, GA studio
The Atlanta studio is located in the vibrant Poncey-Highland neighborhood in the heart of the city, making it hyper-walkable and well connected. A renovated 100-year-old historic home houses Dix.Hite's light-flooded office. Located a half-mile from the Atlanta BeltLine and one-tenth of a mile from the Freedom Parkway trail that connects directly to the BeltLine, a typical day may find team members grabbing a latte from San Francisco Coffee on the walk in, taking a mid-day meeting on the sun dappled patio of Fellini’s Pizza, or catching up with friends at 8ARM at the end of the day.
